1. Create your canvas first. Usually I do these at 225 x 225 or 150 x 150 px, but you can use any resolution size you see fit.

Then create your sketch for your pixel.
2. Next, create the lineart for your pixel. For the lineart, use the binary pen. Note that for the size of the binary pen, it should be set to 1 px so the lineart can be as thin as possible.
3. Have these settings for the binary pen so you can create pixels.
When doing the lineart for the pixel, make sure to have it as crisp as possible. And ONLY use the binary pen as an eraser to remove edges due to it not having anti-aliasing. Prevents it from being blurry. How to do that is by having the transparency icon selected at the bottom left.
4. Use a clipping layer for the lineart to color the inside of it. To do this, select the outside of the lineart, increment and invert it. Set the layer to Lumi & Shade.
5. Fill in the colors for the pixel. For any gaps (empty spaces with no color), try to fill them in individually.

Be sure to do these colors in a separate layer if you just want to shade the colors, not the lineart.
6. Shade them and you're done! If you want to make the pixel transparent, save it with 32 ARBG selected.

For the border, select the outside of the pixel, invert, increment and color in a separate layer.
EXTRA STEP:

For me, when I have parts of the character that cross with the main parts of them, I slightly fade them by making another layer, color the parts by white and reduce the white parts to 30% Opacity.
